Installation Considerations
The PROFILE EXEC for the CA Dynam/T Service Machine and user machines,
which will interface with the tape library via the DYNCAT utility, must have
access to the CSL Library, FSMPPSI. This library contains all of the CSL
routines for the Tape Library. The Disk containing this library (FSMPPSI
CSLLIB) must be linked and accessed to the machine.
Once these steps are completed, the interface can be activated.
Scratch Volume Mounts
For any scratch request for which a cartridge is suitable for allocation,
CA Dynam/T requests a scratch volume from the Tape Library, should an AVR
scan not locate a suitable volume. The default scratch pool used for allocation
is SCRATCH0, unless ECFLAG=02 is set in DTPARMS, in which case the scratch
pool is taken from the ownerid field of the data set definition. The first
character of the ownerid is the library id, defined in the system profile. The
second character is the scratch pool id.
Once a volume is mounted, it is validated against the CA Dynam/T catalog to
ensure it is a valid scratch volume, and if ownerid checking is enabled
(OWNCHK=YES), the ownerid is checked. If the volume fails validation, it is
rejected, unloaded, and returned to scratch status in the tape library. A new
volume is then selected. Once a valid scratch volume is found, it is attached to
the requesting user.
Specific Volume Mounts
For a request for a specific volume (input or output), CA Dynam/T VM queries
the IBM Tape Library to determine if the volume resides there. If so,
CA Dynam/T will request the volume to be mounted on an available drive,
determined by CA Dynam/T.
Volume Dismounts
Whenever a volume is unloaded, it is automatically removed from the drive by
the IBM Tape Library and returned to its storage cell.
